wedding-rings

How sweet those words are coming from your five year old son! Our son insists that when he grows up he is going to marry Mommy. It warms my heart to know that my little guy loves me so much! It also allows me see what he sees…that in order to marry someone, you have to love them more than anyone else. He doesn’t love me because I let him get his way all the time, because I give him everything he wants or because he never gets punished. He loves me because I first loved him. As parents, we show our children what love really is in a relationship by our actions of love.

It reminds me very much of God’s love for us: In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son [to be] the propitiation for our sins. 1 John 4:10

I cannot possibly love my husband or children more than I do already. But the love I have for them doesn’t even compare to the kind of love God showed when he sent Jesus to die for our sins. As a parent, you know that you would NEVER send your child to be tortured and killed for a crime someone else committed. That is exactly what God did! He sent His perfect, sinless Son, to this wicked undeserving world, to be accused, tortured and hanged on a cross for the sins of every single person on this earth.

Yet, not everyone will be saved. Jesus’ death on the cross was a gift from God. He was promising us eternal life in Heaven if we only accept His Son.If we believe that Jesus is the sinless Son of God who came to earth as an infant, lived here as sinless man and died a horrible death for our sake, and rose from the grave after three days to later return to Heaven to prepare a place for all believers. If you admit that you are a sinner deserving of death, ask Him to forgive you of your sins and tell Him you are ready to live your life according to His commandments, you will join God in Heaven when you pass from this earth!

If you have any questions or have decided this day to believe in Jesus as your Savior, please let me know!

Have a Blessed Day!

I had something totally different in mind for this week, but I didn’t have time to study up on some details. I wanted to share with you the highlight of my week which brings tremendous Peace of heart to many people at our church.

One of the dear sweet girls in my 1st grade Sunday School class accepted Jesus as her Savior on Sunday! After our story of Isaiah learning of the coming Savior, I made up a story of a princess needing saved by a prince (perfect for a group of 7 year old girls!)…I explained to them that Jesus is that Prince and that he came to rescue us from Satan. That’s making a long story very short, but the important part is that she wanted to pray to Jesus!! After class, we went and got her Daddy so he could pray with her.  After she prayed, she told her friends and some of the other adults…she was so excited! Praise the Lord and please pray with me as we continue to minister to the next generation of God’s missionaries!

Have a Blessed week!!

Here is another wonderful post I just read directed toward moms. Visit Crystal over at Mom of Littles for this heartwarming recreation of 1 Corinthians 13.

As I sit here and review the last year, I find that I have many things to be thankful for. At times, it seems like there are very few things happening that, to most people, “qualify” as things to be thankful for. There are the typical things; my Lord and Savior Jesus, my husband, our children, our family & friends, our home…

I am reminded of yet another of Paul’s letters (if you haven’t noticed, these are probably my favorite books in the Bible!)…1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 are great verses for Thanksgiving Day:

Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

I LOVE this verse! Rejoice ALWAYS…in EVERYTHING give THANKS!!! Even the bad stuff that seems to overwhelm us at times. It’s not easy, and I am definitely not the poster child for this verse, but I am striving to remember this when things are just not going my way. God really wants to bless us , but how can He do that when we are dwelling on the bad and not looking toward the Good? A better question, how can we see God’s blessing if we are only focusing on what is going wrong? Remember this;

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to [his] purpose. Romans 8:28

Just one more reminder that ALL THINGS are to bring glory to God…not just the good stuff! What are you thankful for this year?

I’m a little late in doing this…but I hope that doesn’t stop anyone from checking out what I have in store for this week:)

Now on to My Peace Monday:

Honestly, I didn’t even think ahead on this one! It was such a hectic week last week and a busy weekend, I didn’t even have my quiet time. Which brings me to My Peace this week.

Every so often, I’ll realize that I’ve been having a bad day or a really bad week. I’ll sit and ponder the reasons for a bit…I’m overscheduled, company is coming and I need to cook and clean, the kids are being way too crazy and disobedient, the husband is working too much…blah, blah, blah…

It never fails, that after I’m through with all the “excuses” for being in a lousy mood…I come to the reason for it. How long has it been since I had an actually Quiet Time?? I don’t mean Sunday morning when I read my Bible and Pray at church…I mean actually sat down, by myself, read my bible and actually had a conversation with Jesus?? Usually the answer to that is “way too long!”. I often relate these episodes to a good friend of mine and she shares the same idea as I do. And I’m sure many of you do as well! When you aren’t spending time reading God’s Word, praying for forgiveness and guidance…you are living your days on a whim. I KNOW that when I get up early, spend time in The Word and in Prayer…my days are great! I get much more done than I otherwise would have, I’m in a better mood, and I am better able to handle the difficult situations that arise. Why then, do I not have quiet time everyday?? That’s easy and also sad. It’s the typical, “When everything is going good…what else do I need?”. I forget that the REASON things are going good is because I started my day focusing on God and what he wants for my day. It’s not enough to just say a quick “Good Morning God! Be with me today”. He wants us to :

Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the Nations, I will be exalted among the earth! Psalm 46:10

If you struggle with this as well…let me know…I would love for us to pray for each other as we get in the habit of “being still” everyday before our Lord and Maker! Have a Blessed Week!!

it’s much more than that! Thank you to Crystal over at Biblical Womanhood for pointing out this wonderful article that had me in tear by the time I finished reading it! It described my life almost perfectly…I hope it encourages you as well. Click below:

Strange Disapperance

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything, by prayer and supplication, make your requests known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Phil. 4:6-7

Yesterday, our pastor gave new light to this verse for me. This is one of my favorite verses and it speaks directly to something I struggle with all the time…anxiety. I’ve always looked to this verse when I am worried or anxious…but I never really took it apart and thought through the entire verse. Let’s do that quickly;

Be anxious for NOTHING – nothing, zero…not a single thing. This is very hard to do. As a mom, wife, sister, daughter, granddaughter, friend…worry is there and that causes anxiety. I know that I can’t help worrying about things. It’s human nature to have feelings of concern over all sorts of situations. What I can do is CHOSE what to do with those concerns. Do I let them eat at me all day, week, month? or do I turn them over to God, who is the only one that can truly take care of them? The choice is ours to make…and once you turn your focus to God, then everything else will fall into place.

But in EVERYTHING, by prayer and supplications make your requests known to God – yes everything! God doesn’t care if it’s the big things or the little things. The point of this is to be in communication with God. Again, when your focus is on Him…things will look a lot different.

Peace – God’s peace. How can you not have peace when you are focusing on God and His goodness!

Here’s what I’m going to try and do…

Thank God for everything (yes, even the not so nice stuff). I’m going to find something to be thankful for in every situation. It’s easy to be thankful when things are going great…try to find something to be thankful for in the ugly times too. Something like this ” Thank you God that my children are misbehaving… It reminds me that you entrusted them to me to raise up to love you! Help me to guide them lovingly toward you.”

It’s not going to be easy, especially if you are a worrier like me. But, I’ll pray that you will find peace in God’s goodness. Memorize these verses and they will help you in your time of need.

Have a Blessed Monday!

I need to address something that has been very much on my mind during this election year. Human Life. Yes, it’s more than just the Pro-Life/Choice issue…I realize that. But, for right now…consider these points when you are casting your vote next week. Remembering, that if you vote for someone that is Pro-Choice, they will have to authority to keep abortion legal…at any stage of pregnancy. And let me say this…if you are unhappy with either of the candidates running for President, don’t stay away from the ballot box. If the person you wanted didn’t make it … write their name it! Just please VOTE for someone.

  • Psalm 139:13-16 makes it very clear when life begins…at the moment of conception. (which is also scientifically supported)
  • Proverbs 31:8 encourages us to speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves…such as an unborn child
  • Considering the photo above which is at 7 weeks: most abortions don’t happen until after the 8th week of pregnancy. That’s not including what is considered “partial birth abortion”. In my opinion, consider what I know about fetus development, abortion at any time is “partial birth abortion”.

In light of next week’s election, I pray that you will consider this point to be a very important one. Some of you may think that it’s a woman’s choice what she does to her body in this case. But what about the rights of the baby? Some of the same officials that will protect the baby’s life that was born 1 minute ago are also the ones that will pass a bill that will keep abortion legal. If it’s not okay for anyone to kill a newborn baby, why is it okay for a mother to kill her unborn child?

You need to decide what the important issues are in this election. Is it the right to live at any point in life or is it about the personal life issues of particular candidates? While I do believe that we should be concerned about the personal choices of particular candidates and how it may affect their ability to govern our great nation, there are more important issues at hand.

A candidates decision to be Pro-Life or Pro-Choice says a lot about how they view Human Life.

I’ll step down off my Soapbox now…anyone care to borrow it? It’s about making your voice heard…not protecting someone’s feelings. I encourage you to leave comments…keeping in mind that it is at my digression which ones will be posted.

Did you ever have one of those days that you want to just pull the covers over your head and forget you’re the keeper of the home for the day? It’s one of those days when the first thoughts that enter your mind are the countless things that need done before 7:30am:

Wake the kids, empty the dryer to find school clothes, remind the kids again that it’s gym day and they need to find their gym clothes, argue with the oldest because they have 10 mintues to eat breakfast (did I mention we overslept?) and they don’t want oatmeal or cereal, find coats (mom hung them in the closet…imagine that!), pack up the backpacks with all kinds of unnecessary things to take to school, OH yeah…it’s Monday…the kids need lunch money, remind them to try their best to finish their work at school because afterschool it’s off to ballet and gymnastics, make coffee, wake the husband, get the kids out the door to catch the bus before it pulls away….okay.

Now it’s 7:30, husband is up getting ready for work, mom needs to get dressed,  time to wake the preschooler and get him ready for preschool. Hubby needs a ride to work because the brakes on his car are out, little one is up and dressed eatting dry cereal on the way out the door to drop off hubby (ugh…forgot hubbys lunch in the rush) and get to preschool 10 mintues late.

Whew…okay time for the truth if you haven’t figured it out yet…we had one of those mornings! After dropping Alex off at preschool…I sat in the car for a minute to catch my breath. On the drive home I got to thinking, “I wish I never got out of bed this morning!”. Then I remembered the Proverbs 31 woman. While I REALLY don’t like to be compared to this superwoman of a wife and mother, I realized that I just had one of her mornings…in a 21st century kind of way.

Take a minute with me and read Proverbs 31. Think about how your life relates to this ideal woman and share with us how using this passage as an example for you life has blessed you and your family.

NOW…Menu Planning Monday

I was very unmotivated to make a menu and shopping list over the weekend…so here is what I’m thinking for this week…not in any particular order :)

  • Lentil Tacos w/lettuce, salsa and sour cream
  • Chili and cornbread
  • BBQ Chicken, Mac and Cheese & Mixed Veggies
  • Homemade Pizza (Tammy’s Recipes)  & Salad

The girls are going on a field trip on Friday and wont’ be home for supper so we’ll just have leftovers. We’re having company on Saturday and I haven’t decided what to make yet. It’s a newlywed couple and I’d like to have them over early enough to have the new Mrs. help with supper. Since her mom is an excellent cook, I’m sure she is well on her way, but it would be fun to cook together anyway! I’ll post the menu later today.

Have a Blessed Day and feel free to browse the rest of the blog! To find more Menus for this weeks visit OrgJunkie.com
